Wise Woman Muse

“A woman is the full circle.

Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform.”

Diane Mariechild.

I love the power and wisdom of this quote that applies to women of every age and stage. Creating in varied and different ways, nurturing themselves and others. And transforming. Always growing. The inherent power that is held in even just the concept of transformation and change. Being open to invite change and going with the flow in equal amounts. Qualities to be celebrated. And celebrate them we did, in this Wise Woman Muse session with my beautiful sister-in-law.

I have to admit that I may have ambushed her into the photoshoot under the guise of a sleepover ‘and bring your makeup we might have a play in the studio’! After she expressed interest in photographs she saw of another ‘femme d'une certaine age’ that I had taken. But her own Wise Woman Muse session to celebrate new beginnings was always going to be on the cards so we seized the opportunity!

Yes you can be photographed after 60 for no particular reason at all. Yes you can dress up as much or keep it as relaxed as you like. Yes I have a studio wardrobe bursting at the seams and am always keen to style you. Yes initially it may involve a little letting go. A little apprehension. A little uncertainty. Only initially. A play with makeup. Your signature hot pink lippy perhaps. Music. And laughter. Lots and lots of laughter.

The experience of being photographed might be a bit daunting at first, but with some gentle guidance, a playful lighthearted approach, this wonderful woman ended up agreeing to a milk bath to finish the afternoon! And what a lovely relaxed and dreamy photograph it turned out to be.

It’s always such a joy for me to see your self-consciousness fall away, your trust to grow, and your wholehearted enjoyment in your session take over in no time at all. This is true of every single client. Without exception.

So forget about being photogenic or worthy of a photography session or not. Once you see yourself on the back of my camera in your very best light, any fear will give way to excitement. The session is as exciting and enjoyable as the beautiful photographs you will hold to show for it.

The moon doesn’t consider one phase better than another;

She just glows, equally stunning at each turn.

Why should we be any different?
