I’m Shanon Quinn, an accredited professional photographer of 7 years specialising in maternity and newborn portraiture for those who never want to forget the fleetingly beautiful newborn days, and how tiny they once looked in your hands. Photographing women in every stage & age of their lives is also my passion. Too often we’re the ones hiding behind the camera…please don’t leave it forever to exist in photographs. As a mum of 2 not-so-little-anymore young adults, I know the value of having beautiful printed photographs to show your children how much they are loved, and to one day hand down to them. That’s why capturing images of this time in a woman’s life, and a baby’s very first story is one of my most favourite subjects to photograph. There’s nothing that can compare to the magic and mystery of pregnancy and the new born baby. All the anticipation, connection, and wonder. Captured and recorded without any stress for you.

I’ve specialised in not only the photography related aspects of photographing women and babies in particular, but also am accredited in the safety and knowledge around handling and posing pregnant women and babies. You’re in safe hands.

With a background in photography and also art and communication studies, I love nothing more than creating an incredible service and experience for each of my clients, and bringing their vision for their photoshoot to life.

I know just how to subtly direct you in front of the camera, and light and style you in your best light to give you the photos of yourself that you’ve always wanted. Posing and composition are a passion of mine. I’ve dedicated a lot of extra study to making every single body type look incredible in camera. Maternity & Newborn sessions and women’s portraiture and milk bath sessions are held at the SQP home studio on the Gold Coast. I love being able to welcome you into my home so you can be pampered and relax. Whether you sip tea on the lounge, curl up for a rest, or delight over the serene studio outlook, I know you will love the whole experience. Between the atmosphere and my gentle guidance you will enjoy the process of being photographed no matter how awkward you may think you’ll feel, and you’ll have incredible images to show for it.

If you’d prefer, I can also photograph your newborn session in your hotel room for those who have the Pindara Private Palazzo Versace Platinum package.

Images are created using soft, flattering, natural window light, with studio lights on standby. I create yours and your baby’s session just for you - incorporating natural elements of fresh flowers, handpainted backdrops, lengths of silks, lace, and tulle, many of which are hand dyed. I very selectively source any props or set design styling elements we may use from Australia-wide, and internationally so your photographs will be stylish, contemporary, and lasting. As with the exclusive range of beautiful printed products, I , as a professional photographer, can offer you, your images and your session is like no other. Please know that your new baby is in safe, capable hands. I am specialised in newborn and baby photography posing and safety, and as a mum of 2-not-so- little-ones anymore, I have the experience, and a few baby-pacifying ninja skills up my sleeve! My home studio is a relaxing environment that is designed for yours and your baby’s comfort and relaxation. Relaxing music. Misted essential oils. A comfy place to sit for a cuppa. As you will see my style of newborn photography is quite organic and timeless. I love colour, styling and design but I'm afraid you won't find any contrived unnatural poses or bucket props in my repertoire. Babies in their most natural poses and with minimal props are perfect to me, just as they are. Creating beautiful, fine art, natural images that won't date or look like every other newborn image around, is how I like to capture the wonder of newborns. They are after all the focus. Every little detail captured. Each session is as unique as you and your little one. And your baby completely calls the shots during our session. No forced poses, plenty of time for a top-up feed, changes and cuddles, baby’s comfort is our priority.

Styling & Design

Think stylish accessories and props sourced internationally, hand made wraps and outfits, hand felted blooms, fresh flowers and custom made knits, and silk organza bonnets. My goal is to focus on your beautiful little baby and capture details, features, expressions, and connection in beautiful light - capture a time that in a mere few weeks will be gone. Yes really. The swirl of hair on their crowns, tiny flaking fingers and toes, their snuggly tiny newness. They will be growing before your very eyes it seems in those early days.
As an artist and with a Diploma in Photography and a Masters in Communication, I love design and styling and approach your whole session and finished products with an artistic eye. I have a talent for making everyone in front of my camera feel relaxed and confident - even the most hesitant mum-to-be and unsettled little ones! Listening to and translating my clients’ ideas and desires for their sessions and the look they are wanting into reality comes easily and creatively to me. Just like every client I photograph, every session is unique in every way. My joy is to give you a wonderful experience of being photographed, as well as truly beautiful images and exclusive professional artwork that you can share with family and friends, and display with pride in your home year after year. You’ve booked a professional photography experience, you want swoon-worthy photographs to show for it.
Not images languishing on a usb or disk drive that your children and their children probably won’t even be able to access. If you haven’t guessed already, I believe an image is not truly a photograph until it’s printed. Oh, and I love art and design. I’ve invested a lot of time into mastering digital editing and fine art retouching of images so you can be assured that your artwork will receive the attention to detail it deserves. Much more than a snap or a mass produced photo book. Every print product I offer is stylish and worthy of displaying beautifully in your home.

When to Book

And all you have to do to book your session is give me a call or email with your due date. We‘ll 'pencil in' a time for around your 32-34 week mark, and confirm it as we draw nearer. Believe me, flexibility comes with the territory as a newborn and maternity photographer! We can change things around to suit baby’s arrival.
If you’re further along in your pregnancy still do get in contact as we will do our best to make a session available to you. Our beautiful mum-to-be in the milk bath welcomed her new baby mere days after our shoot! And this lovely baby girl was photographed beautifully capturing all her 6 week old cheekiness.

2. Your Date Is Secured ... Session Designed ... & Before You Know It, Your Photoshoot Day Is Here - And We're All Beyond Excited!

You’re preparing to welcome your baby and I am so excited to invite you into the SQP home studio for your maternity session. By now you’ve received all my prep info, know what to expect, and are ready to relax and enjoy your day. Don’t worry if you’re feeling a bit unsure, I’m here to put you at ease and guide you every step of the way! Whether it’s maternity, newborn, baby, Personal Branding or Muse Session - be prepared to be taken exceptional care of!
3. It's Time To "Ooh" & "Aah" Over Your Photographs!

Within a week from your session you will get a sneak peek of your beautiful images to announce and share. Within 2 weeks you will come back into the studio for your design consultation to view and select from all of your images. I will have put together a few of my favourites to show you some ways that your photographs can be designed and displayed. If you’ve sent me a pic of your walls at home just wait until you see the designs I can show you on my big screen just how they’ll look jin your home. This is also the time to order what you love. Yes, real printed photographs with your digitals if you choose.
